BLACKBEARD AND THE PIRATES



Divide the group into eight smaller groups and assign each group one of the words listed below. Read the story. After each of the words is read pause for the group to make the appropriate response
BLACKBEARD "I'll slit your throat"
CREW"Walk the plank"
FAIR YOUNG MAIDENS Woe is me!"
GOOD GUYS"Get those rats!"
PARR0T"Blow me down"
SEVEN SEAS"Land Ho!"
HANDSOME HERO(Sigh) "My hero"
JOLLY ROGER"Save us!"

The terror of the SEVEN SEAS___ was BLACKBEARD___ the pirate. BLACKBEARD___ and his evil CREW___ preyed on peaceful ships and often captured FAIR YOUNG MAIDENS___. The evil BLACKBEARD___ had a pet PARROT __ who would taunt prisoners while the CREW___ tortured them. BLACKBEARD___ and his murderous CREW___ were hunted through the SEVEN SEAS___ by GOOD GUYS___."

One day a peaceful ship was sailing the SEVEN SEAS___. Suddenly the JOLLY ROGER___ appeared on the horizon. The peaceful ship's mates knew the JOLLY ROGER___ meant that they would be attacked by the terrible BLACKBEARD___ and his CREW___. The GOOD GUYS___ took battle stations and the FAIR YOUNG MAIDENS___ shuddered with fright. "All is lost," cried the GOOD GUYS___. The pet PARROT___ shrieked with glee. BLACKBEARD___ howled, "We have them, CREW___! Throw the GOOD GUYS___ over the side and capture the FAIR YOUNG MAIDENS___. We will take them to our secret island and have a party. They can wash the dishes." So the CREW___ threw the GOOD GUYS___ over the side, and the JOLLY ROGER___ set sail for the secret island.

HANDSOME HERO___ was waiting for his sweetheart when he heard the terrible news that his girl and all the other FAIR YOUNG MAIDENS___ were prisoners. So HANDSOME HERO___ gathered a group of other GOOD GUYS __ and took off in his ship, Rocket. They planned to search the SEVEN SEAS___ until they found the secret island of BLACKBEARD___ and his CREW___. Suddenly, HANDSOME HERO___ shouted, "There it is!" And they sailed the good ship Rocket to attack the evil CREW___. BLACKBEARD___ was slain and his CREW___ was routed. The evil PARROT___ flew away.

Now the SEVEN SEAS___ were rid of BLACKBEARD___ and his treacherous CREW___. The JOLLY ROGER___ would never sail again, and the FAIR YOUNG MAIDENS___ could go home. On the Rocket, the HANDSOME HERO___ and FAIR YOUNG MAIDENS___ sailed off into the sunset.
