I want to first say that I am no expert on the subject of Youth Protection. I have taken the various courses offered by BSA and watched the files but have no special training. I do, however feel it is an important subject to approach.
It is our responsibility to provide the safest environment for our children. BSA provides its leaders with materials to help in recognizing what child abuse is, how to recognize it, and how to report it if abuse is expected.
Youth protection not only covers adult to children situations but also children to children. I feel it is important that each scout knows that hazing, name calling, physical abuse or emotional abuse of one boy to another is not part of the scouting spirit.
Below are a list of articles I have found on youth protection and links to sites which deal with child abuse. I hope with time, this list will grow.
